1. Source

1.1 Brief Description

The Source object is used to produce the parts that pass through the model. It typically represents the goods receiving area of your factory or the main machine that produces the parts.

 

1.2 Operation and Control Description

The Source has a capacity of one and no processing time. The Source can produce different part types sequentially or in a mixed order.

For example, it could represent the goods receiving area of your facility, which delivers parts produced at another location.Or it could represent a machine that produces the parts processed by the other stations.

The source produces the parts that pass through your facility and are processed by the various stations.

You can then use the sink to remove these produced parts from the factory, for example, to model your factory’s shipping process.

2. Drain

2.1 Brief Description

The Drain object is used to remove parts from the factory after they have been processed. It typically represents your factory’s shipping process.

 

2.2 Operation and Control Description

The Drain allows you to model the goods outflow from your factory. The properties of the Drain correspond to those of the single station.

Like the single station, it has a single workstation. However, the Drain does not pass processed MUs on to a successor; instead, it removes them from the system after processing them.
